Column on Government finances: an apology
An opinion column headlined ‘Gov’t money mess includes $1bn in wrongly handled funds’, which ran on page 8 of the August 4 edition of the Bermuda Sun, carried substantial inaccuracies.
The article erroneously stated that ‘now there is more than $1,000,000,000 of improperly handled Government funds’.
We accept that the headline and the central thrust of the column were based on incorrect calculations.
Both the Bermuda Sun and the author of the column, Larry Burchall, apologize unreservedly both to readers and anyone in Government who might have been inconvenienced by these errors.
Mr. Burchall will address the matter further in a subsequent column.

JUL 30, 2014: It marked the end of an era as our printers and collators produced the very last edition of the Bermuda Sun.
