THURSDAY, JANUARY 17: Do you have what it takes to be the next Miss Bermuda?
The pageant is recruiting for woman between the ages of 17 and 24 to participate in the event.
Pageant organizer Milika Trott-Seymour said: “We are simply looking for young ladies who would like to experience something new.
“They shouldn’t be overly concerned with being too shy or not being the ‘beauty queen type’, no one is perfect and that’s why we have lots of training leading up to the final.
“In the end, everyone is confident and prepared.”
Trott-Seymour also explained the requirements.
“Because the Miss Bermuda pageant is the preliminary to the Miss World Pageant, the requirements are the same as they would be for international competition. Ladies must be Bermudian, by birth or status, aged 17 to 24, must not have children, must not be married or divorced and must be able to travel.”
The young women undergo three months of training, appearances and photo shoots leading up to the finals.
“It is great exposure and ensures they are confident and ready for the stage and for any other opportunities that may come after the pageant”, Trott-Seymour said.
Asked why it’s an honour to be Miss Bermuda, she said: “Being Miss Bermuda is an experience of a lifetime, in addition to representing her country, Miss Bermuda experiences places that she probably otherwise would never visit. Miss Bermuda 2013 will have to opportunity to tour Indonesia with over 100 other contestants competing at the Miss World Pageant. Step outside of your box and do something new even if you think you can’t do it. You don’t have anything to lose and I guarantee you’ll be glad you tried it.”
Applications are available until January 31 on the Miss Bermuda Facebook page and on www.missbermuda.bm
