Cox gets 58 per cent approval rate, but people are worried about the economy
MONDAY, JANUARY 24: Almost 60 per cent of Bermudians approve how Premier Paula Cox is handling her job.
And almost 70 per cent of Bermudians are dissatisfied with the way things are going in Bermuda with 63.8 per cent saying the economy is moving in the wrong direction.
According to a survey conducted by Research Innovations, Ms Cox got a overall 57.6 per cent approval rating.
Only 8.3 per cent of people disapprove of how Ms Cox is handling the job and 34.1 per cent aren’t sure.
The survey was conducted between January 12 and 19 and 403 residents were surveyed.
As far as the public’s overall opinion of the Premier, 84.3 per cent were favourable, 7.9 per cent unfavourable and 7.9 per cent were unsure.
Opposition Leader Kim Swan was viewed favourably by 43.7 per cent and unfavourably by 34.9 per cent and 21.4 per cent of people who were unsure how they view Mr. swan.
BDA Leader Craig Cannonier was viewed favourably by 25.3 per cent and unfavourably by 24.9 per cent and an additional 49.8 per cent who were unsure.
Twenty-four per cent of people are satisfied with how things are going in Bermuda now compared to 68.1 per cent who are dissatisfied and 7.9 per cent who are unsure.
Asked how they would rate the economic conditions in Bermuda, 8.3 per cent said good, 52.1 per cent said fair and 40.6 per cent said poor.
On the economy, 22.7 per cent said the economy was moving in the right direction, 63.8 per cent said the wrong direction and 13.5 per cent said they were unsure.
As for who they would vote for in a general election tomorrow, 46.8 per cent said the PLP, 12.8 per cent said the UBP, 3.9 per cent said the BDA, 3.4 per cent said independent, 2.0 per cent said none, .5 per cent said other, 15.3 per cent refused and 15.3 per cent said they were unsure.
The margin of error for the poll is +-4.9 per cent.
