Duffy gets $10K from Capital G
Last Friday she found out that the International Triathlon Union had granted her one of two wild cards for the Beijing Olympics and yesterday, Capital G gave her $10,000 to help with the build-up for the summer games.
James Gibbons, chairman of Capital G Bank, presented Duffy with a cheque for $10,000 and also promised to give an additional $2,500 incentive checque for achieving certain levels in her other races this year.
"Capital G is pleased to continue our sponsorship commitment to Flora. We hope in some small way we have assisted Flora in her future competitions," said Gibbons in a press release.
Gibbons added: "Capital G has watched Flora's athletic career from her early years participating in the Capital G Iron Kids Triathlon. Beginning at the age of 7, Flora was the female winner in her age category for eight consecutive years."
Duffy, 20, won Bermuda's Female Athlete of the Year at the end of March.
In the past year she won the Central and Caribbean Triathlon Championship as well as competing in ITU World Cup events in Spain, Portugal, England, USA and Greece. Brazil, Spain, France, Portugal and the United States.
Duffy said: "I would like to thank Capital G for its continued support of my athletic career."
