FRIDAY, JULY 6: Many will remember the glory days of Bermuda’s party scene when concerts and shows were held regularly, giving locals and tourists a plethora of fun options.

Nowadays, people say there’s nothing to do in Bermuda but next weekend, there will be three things to do in one location.

Fantasy Island makes its return starting next Friday night at White’s Island.

There will be three parties and three different vibes.

Keidric Smith of Party People Bda is putting on the event and hopes to attract large crowds each night.

“I’m always looking to do something different.

“I have been doing parties for at least ten years, Freaks at the Beach, and the Swizzle King competition.

“I always try to find something different.

“You can have chicken any way, but people want some variety so why not have a party on an island?”

He continued: “So, we did it two years ago for the first time.

“It was a good turnout.

“I wasn’t able to do it last year but I said ‘let’s give it a shot’ this year and make it bigger and better.”

This year, the first night will feature soca and top 40 music, the second will have dancehall and hip-hop while the final night is all about old-school reggae.

Asked why three nights, Smith said: “Why not?

“Usually when you go to a party, you hear a bit of the music that you like.

“They may play a little bit of soca or hip-hop.

“I thought it would be good to cater to the music that people like.

“They can hear it for a good amount of time.”

And the DJs are known internationally.

“I thought I would bring down someone who caters to each demographic of music.

“With Bermudians getting back into the soca grove, I have noticed that one DJ Bermudians listen to is DJ Private Ryan.

“I thought it made sense to bring him down.”

DJ Private Ryan is Trinidadian and is known as “the world’s most versatile DJ”.

Playing alongside him will be local soca DJ D’General and Dynasty Sound.

Saturday night will feature DJ Magic from the Pitbull Camp at Hot 97 in New York alongside Rusty G, Vybez Alliance and Jim Brown.

“DJ Magic is new to the island and is a really good performance DJ, so why not bring him.”

The final night will feature veterans Stone Love from Jamaica alongside Souljah One and Awesome Sound.

“Everybody knows Stone Love”, Smith added.

He hopes to attract 500 people each night.

“It’s a little to early to predict who many people will come, but the ticket sales are going well”, he added.

There will be one bar at the party, sponsored by Goslings and food provided by Jamaican Grill.

“There will also be access to the beach if people want to go in the water and have some fun on the Island.”

Each night, there will be a stage for the DJs performances facing Albuoy’s Point.

Asked why people should come out and party, Smith said: “It’s a party on an island and the DJs that are coming are top class DJs.

“The vibes are going to be off the chain.

“If you came to the last one, you know what I’m talking about.”
