FRIDAY, JULY 6: The Pump It Up high heeled charity event at Harbour Nights raised over $15,000 for the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust campaign for the new hospital.
The competition saw 12 candidates compete against each other to raise the most money and decide who would have to do the catwalk in high heels.
The Bermuda Sun’s Don Burgess was the overall winner. His opponent, the Royal Gazette’s delMonte Davis raised the second most, and Saltus’ Jon Beard, the third. A packed partisan crowd came to see St George’s Cricket Club president Neil Paynter face off against Somerset Cricket Club president Alfred Maybury. Paynter won and decided to walk but had Maybury follow behind him on the catwalk.
The evening also included a sneak peak into the Evolution Fashion Show scheduled for Saturday, a hot dog eating contest, and performances by Toni Robinson and Odysea. The night’s festivities were capped off with fireworks.
