Gospel legends invite you to enjoy three days of worship
THURSDAY, AUGUST 18: Gospel great Dr Bobby Jones is ready to praise the Lord with his fans as he prepares to host the Bermuda Gospel Festival next week.
Joining Dr Jones on the island will be Mary Mary, Fred Hammond, Shirley Ceasar, Karen Clark Sheard and Kiki Sheard.
“I am really excited about coming back to Bermuda to deliver a message and to host the shows,” said Dr Jones, speaking from Tennessee.
Praise
“It’s been a while since I have been there to do that. However, I have visited many times.”
Dr Jones took part in a hospital fundraiser a few years ago and returned for a vacation last year.
“It’s always a pleasure and a lot of people came out of the stores to speak to me and greet me and welcome me to the island,” he said,
He told the Bermuda Sun festival-goers can expect “a lot of laughter” as well as “a lot of praise”.
“I like to take people into recognizing the Lord with me,” he said. “The purpose is not only to bring them an enjoyable evening but also have positive messages.”
Dr Jones said he may also sing if there are enough requests.
“I’m basically hosting but if I feel it, look out. I have no inhibitions about that,” he said.
The audience can expect “a good evening with people who know the Lord”.
“You will get a good message and wonderful fellowship with your cousins from the US,” said Dr Jones.
“As far as our artists are concerned, we are non-denominational. Even though we may go to a specific church, we still respect all religions, denominations, and we all take that into consideration as we present our material.
“I think some history of our music, I will be able to expose, because it’s another country and it will help them to understand the development of the genre.
“I would love for it to be a worshipful experience. A true worshipful experience with great fellowship and praising Jesus.
“I am looking forward to all the wonderful faces that I will see in Bermuda.
“I have a special friend who works for Government. And I look forward to seeing the people I know and the people who watch me on TV.”
