WEDNESDAY, NOV. 30: Intermezzo Café and Convenience has closed down after a little over three months in business.
Thirty four-year-old entrepreneur George Swan owned the store.
It opened in August was his sixth store.
Mr Swan also owns Belvin’s on Happy Valley, in Devonshire, in Flatt’s and in Bailey’s Bay and Intermezzo Wines and Spirits in Flatt’s.
The shop is located across from the Dame Lois Browne-Evans Building in the very spot where Dame Browne-Evans offices were located.
This newspaper interviewed Mr Swan shortly after the shop opened.
When contacted last week, the owner said he didn’t wish to comment on the closure.
He opened four stores in seven years and then opened the wine shop and branched into the city with Intermezzo.
At the time, he said he came to the location to look at the space.
“With the courthouse, the bank and the police station, I figured it could get some foot traffic”, he added.
Intermezzo offered breakfast, a salad bar, pre-made sandwiches and a hot buffet. Mr Swan said his inspiration for the shop was the Buzz chain.
