MP's discount deal for constituents

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 16: An MP has struck a five per cent discount deal with retailers, effective today.

Dale Butler, who represents Warwick North East (Bermuda Constituency 25), negotiated the deal with a total of eight stores in his constituency.

Mr Butler said the move was inspired by a Wednesday-only discount deal at supermarket Lindo’s.

He added: “Residents asked me if other businesses, in light of the harsh economic times, would be interested in doing the same thing. I contacted all the businesses in the area and they all agreed — it’s been very well-received and I’ve already had phone calls thanking us for arranging this.”

Mr Butler arranged for a special coupon to be mailed to every home in the constituency, outlining the deal and listing the businesses taking part.

The ‘5 in 25’ offer includes Blu Bar and Grill, Fourways restaurant, Belmont Hills Golf Club, Island Spice, Creative Upholstery, the Warwick branch of Upper Crust and Bo’s gardening store, as well as Lindo’s.

Mr Butler said: “The merchants are excited about this – hopefully it will generate extra business for them as well as providing an opportunity to save on shopping for constituents.”

Mr Butler said he would be contacting all the participating retailers after the promotion with a view to making the discounts a regular feature.

He added: “I’d like to see it extended if possible — it’s a one-off at the moment, but we’ll see what we can do about making it a regular thing.”
