Sandys, Warwick win rugby titles
Sandys Middle School hosted its first rugby tournament and did itself proud in winning the Under-14 competition.
Sandy’s U-14, which always field two strong teams won, after coming from behind late in the final against Somersfield and came through in extra time to win 10 to 5.
Warwick Academy took the Under-12 title as the tournament had participation from Saltus, two teams from Somersfield Academy and Whitney Institute.
Warwick also had to win its title in extra time as it was tied 15 to 15 in regulation with the Somersfield Lions before it prevailed 20 to 15.
Somersfield played well in holding Warwick to its lowest point total of the tournament.
