FRIDAY, NOV. 23: The Art Centre in Dockyard is opening its ‘Small Works Show’ this Sunday.

Artists have been invited to create work on any topic or medium that they wish, the only stipulation is that the works can be no larger than 8 and a half by 11 inches.

Small Works is a revolving show which means as works are sold, they are removed from the walls and the artists replace them with another painting.

Gallery curator Heidi Cowen said: “This is a great show to come to for original and affordable Christmas  gifts supporting local art and Bermuda.”

Gallery staff will present visitors with a glass of bubbly at the door and there will be raffles and decorated cedar trees for sale.

In going with the theme of small, well-known artist and miniaturist Ronnie Chameau is opening her solo show entitled “It’s a small world” in the gallery’s Astwood Room.

She is working with all natural materials collected from around the Island
and producing in miniature.

Chameau’s work is inspired by doll maker Marie Gleeson. Asked what her professional goal is she said: “To pass on my craft to others and to keep the traditions going.”

Both shows run until January 10. The Arts Centre is open every day from 11am to 4pm.

The opening runs from 5:30 - 7:30pm.
