Staff to lose jobs as grocery store sells its stock

TUESDAY, AUGUST 14: Liquidators will start selling off the remaining stock tomorrow at a supermarket which has gone out of business - and made most of its staff redundant.

A spokesperson for accountancy firm KPMG, which is handling the sale at White & Sons in Warwick, said: “As no offers have been received to acquire the business as a going concern, the store will be closed and stock realised on an orderly basis.”

The spokesperson added: “In light of the above, the joint provisional liquidators have made the difficult decision to make redundant the majority of the company’s staff who worked at the Middle Road store.

“A small number of staff will be kept on for a limited period to assist with the disposal of the stock.”

The sale runs from 1pm to 8pm tomorrow and between the same times on Thursday.

Creditors, suppliers or potential purchasers of the business should contact Khalid Davis on 294 2628, by fax at 295 8280 or at [email protected].
