FRIDAY, APR. 20: Trinidadian/New York spoken word artist Samantha Thornhill is taking to the mic at the Chewstick Foundation tonight with her own “conscious and sensual” style of street poetry.

Thornhill has travelled the world performing for audiences from all walks of life. For her Bermuda performance, Poetic License II, she will blend “Trini-mix with New York flow”. Thornhill is passionate about taking her poetry to the streets and sharing her art with the public. She is a founding member of the impromptu public performance group Pop Up Poets and is an author and educator, too. For the past six years she has been  teaching poetry to actors-in-training at the Juilliard School and is regularly

contracted to teach creative writing workshops and seminars in New York.

Tonight she will share the stage with Bermuda’s Joy T Barnum and Chew Slam. The event takes place at the Chewstick Foundation at 28 Court Street from 8pm. Entry is free but donations welcomed.
