The Bermuda Cricket Board has confirmed that safety concerns over the use of the traditional red ball is the reason the Lindo’s T20 tournament has been postponed.
A number of players had voiced concerns over the inability to see the ball during evening games, with Warwick coach Lionel Cann telling the Bermuda Sun: “The red ball never works at night.”
The BCB Technical Committee are set to meet, with a resolution expected by the end of the week.
Nyon Steede, Chairman of the Technical Committee, said in a statement: "Due to concerns raised regarding safety and the practicalities of the red ball in low light, the BCB decided to postpone the games until the Technical Committee could consult the clubs and meet to review the situation.
“The safety of players is of paramount importance to the Board. As soon as these concerns have been addressed the Lindo's T20 League will continue."
