Collie Buddz has dismissed Bermuda Sun’s Glenn Jones, claiming beating his rival has become “a habit”.

The two face-off on Tuesday as part of the Capital G Golfer in the Making Series at either Port Royal, Riddell’s Bay or Tucker’s Point, with the final decision down to readers who can vote on our home page (deadline 7pm Friday night).

And reggae star Buddz, called out by a bullish Jones when the series began, says he foresees little trouble in dispatching the Sun’s man, who has been under the tutelage of Tucker's Point pro Paul Adams the past few weeks.

What began as a friendly head-to-head between two aspiring golfers has got serious. The gloves are off.

And despite Jones watching on as Buddz was put through his paces on the Port Royal driving range, the singer said his opponent had nothing in his shot-making armoury to trouble him.

“It’s going alright, you know, “ said Buddz. “I’ve got my coach there Scott Roy teaching me the fundamentals, so I feel good.

“My game overall is in pretty bad shape, though! There’a lot of stuff to work on but I’ve seen Glenn play, so it shouldn’t be too hard. There’s no nerves, I’m just so confident.

“I’ve beat him before so it’s just becoming a habit. We played some time last year and if I remember correctly he was hacking up the course so it should be easy.

I think he was a little hurt when he got beat so now he’s after a little payback.”

Jones laughed off Buddz’s put-downs and went on the counter-attack.

He said: “The first thing I want to clear up is one win does not a habit make!

“He was having one of his best days on the course and I was having one of my bad days. All the potential is with me on Tuesday.

“If he spent as much time on his golf game as he does on his one-liners, then I would probably be afraid.”

He added: “It would mean a great deal to beat him because every time I see him we will have this mutual understanding on who has the upper hand. You can’t put a value on that in dollars – that’s just something intangible that can’t be superseded.”

Jones and Buddz will play fourballs matchplay in teams with their respective coaches, with the two challengers’ scores also counting towards a separate head to head match.
