Houses damaged after explosion in Devonshire (Update 2)

A 46 year old Devonshire woman was treated for shock at the hospital and subsequently released following the explosion at an Ariel Sands, Devonshire residence around 6:25pm Wednesday, October 16th.

A 63 year old Devonshire man who was also in the vicinity of the Dill Lane property at the time of the explosion was not injured and did not require hospital treatment.

Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.



Around 6:25pm on Wednesday, October 16th police officers as well as Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel attended a reported explosion at an Ariel Sands, Devonshire residence.

There were no reported injuries; however apparently there was significant damage to the residence involved. In addition, surrounding residences had windows shattered as a result.

Residents on both Chaingate Hill and Middle Road in Devonshire have reported they felt the explosion shake their houses.

Inquiries into the cause of this explosion are ongoing.
