Bermuda winger Reggie Lambe cursed a controversial penalty decision as Toronto FC went down 1-0 to Chicago Fire in the MLS.
Mike Magee’s free-kick struck the arm of Toronto's Jonathan Osorio while he was in the wall and the Fire player then converted the subsequent spot-kick.
It was tough on the Reds who produced a resolute performance, albeit one that took their season’s record to 5-17-11. They remain second from bottom of the Eastern Conference.
“I don’t think we deserved to lose that game,” Lambe told Toronto FC TV.
“They were given a penalty decision and that’s what changed the outcome of the game but I think we played brilliantly and didn’t deserve to lose.”
The former Ipswich Town player believes, though, that his all-round game is developing under coach Ryan Nelsen.
He said: “The defensive side of my game has grown, tracking back and staying with runners. Going forward it’s a case of trying to combine with players, one-twos, and create chances.
“I just think the defensive side of my game has developed and once I bring them both together I think I should be a strong player.”
