Franklin takes positives
Micah Franklin came unstuck after a superb opening win to exit the Copa Maxis Constructoes Galeria Shopping Open in Brazil.
The Bermuda Squash Racquets Association player had beaten Junior Chistovam on his home court.
Franklin won 3-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-8, 11-6) in 65 minutes but then lost to England’s Anthony Graham 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-3) in just over half-an-hour.
Franklin said: “My first round match was a big win for me against a very tenacious Brazilian, where I really had to push and come from behind on multiple occasions to take the win.
“I then lost my second match against higher ranked Anthony Graham.
“It wasn’t my best performance after I had very little time in between my two matches to recover.
“Take nothing away from the much better player on the day, Anthony, who I wish the best of luck in the next round.
“Overall, I’m happy with my first leg of my Brazil tour and have taken a lot of positives from the two matches. Now it’s time to recover and prepare myself for the next event in a week’s time.”
