‘Bale shirt is a part of history’

One lucky football fan has won a charity silent auction to purchase a signed Gareth Bale Real Madrid shirt.

The auction was run by the Sun as part of the African Diaspora Heritage Trail (ADHT) Bermuda Foundation’s week of programmes last week.

And Marques Basden, 30, of Paget, who read about the competition in the paper, was yesterday presented with his prized shirt.

“I’m actually an Arsenal fan,” he said. “But Gareth Bale is a good player. This was an opportunity to get something that’s a part of history — he’s the most expensive player in the world.

“I am probably going to frame it and just have it forever and then pass it on to my son, Nation.”
