Back in the day: That’s me in your photo!
Two of the young people featured in last week’s photo called in. First, the girl on the right:
“This picture was taken by Roger Gosling in the early 50s. It was taken at the gate of Inshallah, Harbour Road, Paget. It is of me — Jeanette Carey (nee Feakins) — and my brothers Keith Feakins and William (Bill) Feakins, and I believe the young man with the bike is a Mello.”
Ms Carey’s memory of the boy on the bike turned out to be correct, as Michael J Mello also contacted us:
“Your photo on page 9 of today’s Bermuda Sun is me with the bicycle and the other two little boys are Billy (with the cowboy hat) and Keith Feakins… I don’t recognise the girl, but Billy and Keith did have an older sister and this may be her.”
Yes, Mr Mello, that was big sister Jeanette. Thank you both for helping us with a little more of our visual history.

The Bermuda Sun bids farewell...
JUL 30, 2014: It marked the end of an era as our printers and collators produced the very last edition of the Bermuda Sun.
